Pfingsten 2014 fegte ein spektakulärer Sturm über Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hessen und Niedersachsen. Das Tiefdruckgebiet „Ela“ bewegte Mitglieder der größten Kölner Facebookgruppe „Nettwerk Köln“ dazu, meist durch ein Fenster hindurch Bilder vom Himmel aufzunehmen und diese in der Gruppe zu teilen.
Mehr als 270 Bilder des Himmels und rund 400 Seiten Kommentare wurden veröffentlicht – auffällig geprägt von der existenziellen Angst vor einem nahen Tod.

At Pentecost 2014, a spectacular storm swept across North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Lower Saxony. The low-pressure system “Ela” prompted members of the largest Cologne Facebook group, “Nettwerk Köln”, to photograph the sky – usually through a window – and share the images within the group.
More than 270 images of the sky and around 400 pages of comments were published, notably shaped by an existential fear of an imminent death.
